Melanie de Wet

CEO & Founder

decargroup was founded by Melanie de Wet, a transport planner with 25 years of international experience, advising developers how to maximise the value of their assets by balancing transport capacity with development opportunity. She has advised the likes of Canary Wharf Group, Quintain, IKEA, Hammerson, Grosvenor, UAL and Kings College on major developments across a range of sectors in the UK. Her advice has ranged from transport feasibility studies, transport master planning, planning application support, and acting as an Expert Witness on highways matters at public inquiries.

Between 2018 and 2020 Melanie was the Regional People Lead for Transport (London & SE Region) at WSP; responsible for staff engagement, wellbeing and the development of 160 staff in her region, in addition to delivering projects for Quintain, Sellar Property Group, Grosvenor Estates and others. These roles reinforced her passion for 'putting people first'.

Melanie joined Elliott Wood in 2021 as the Head of Transport, where she developed a keen interest and understand of the relationship between embodied carbon, operational carbon and transport carbon impacts of developments. She developed a Transport Carbon Tool to assess the environmental impacts of developments, allowing site selection based on GHG emissions to be undertaken, and the impacts of Travel Plan measures, such as a reduction in car usage to a site, to be measured.

Melanie established decargroup in 2025 with the purpose of providing future led, sustainable and pragmatic advice focused on maximising financial and social value.
